A wired network is a type of computer network where devices are interconnected through physical cables rather than wireless signals. It enables data transmission between devices via wired connections, typically using Ethernet cables, to facilitate communication within a local area or wide area network.

How It Works

In a wired network, each device such as computers, servers, or printers is connected to a central device like a switch or router using physical cables. These cables transmit data signals via electrical impulses or light pulses, depending on the type of cable used. Ethernet is the most common standard for wired connections, providing reliable and high-speed data transfer. The network hardware manages data flow, ensuring that information sent from one device reaches the intended recipient without interference or loss.

The physical infrastructure involves installing cables through walls or conduits, connecting devices to network switches or hubs, which then manage data traffic.
