Zero Knowledge Authentication is a method of verifying a person's identity where the verifier can confirm that the prover is legitimate without the prover revealing any sensitive or specific information about themselves. It ensures that authentication occurs without exposing secrets or credentials that could be exploited by malicious actors.

How It Works

In Zero Knowledge Authentication, the prover proves their identity to the verifier through a series of cryptographic interactions that demonstrate knowledge of a secret without revealing the secret itself. This process often involves the use of complex mathematical challenges and responses, where the prover responds correctly to certain queries, confirming their identity. The key idea is that the verifier gains confidence in the prover's identity based solely on the correctness of the responses, not on any shared secret or credential being transmitted in plain form.
