Quantum dot technology involves the use of tiny nanocrystals that emit precise colours when illuminated, resulting in highly vibrant and accurate displays. It enhances the visual quality of screens by producing pure monochromatic red, green, and blue light, which improves brightness and expands the colour range or gamut.

How It Works

Quantum dots are semiconductor nanocrystals typically just a few nanometers in size. When exposed to a light source or electrical current, they emit specific wavelengths of light based on their size and material composition. Smaller dots emit blue light, while larger ones emit red, with green being produced by intermediate sizes. This precise control over emission wavelengths allows for the creation of displays with highly accurate colours. In quantum dot displays, a backlight or LED light source excites the quantum dots, which then emit their characteristic colours, combining to produce vibrant images with high colour fidelity.
