On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) is a vehicle's self-diagnostic system that monitors and reports the condition of various vehicle subsystems. It provides access to real-time data and diagnostic trouble codes, enabling vehicle owners and technicians to identify issues quickly and accurately.

How It Works

OBD systems are integrated into modern vehicles and continuously monitor critical components such as the engine, transmission, emissions control systems, and other subsystems. Sensors placed throughout the vehicle collect data on parameters like temperature, pressure, and flow rates. When a fault is detected that could affect vehicle performance or emissions, the system records a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) and illuminates warning indicators, such as the check engine light.
